In 2022, in honor of his 70th birthday, the International Cannabinoid Research Society (ICRS) established the ICRS Ethan Russo Trainee Prize—a community-funded scholarship awarded annually to an outstanding ICRS trainee conducting applied, translational research with phytochemicals and direct applications in medicine. The Prize both recognizes Dr. Russo’s profound contributions to cannabinoid science and invests in the next generation of researchers carrying that work forward.
We are pleased to invite you to a special webinar where Dr. Ethan Russo will introduce the two most recent recipients of the ICRS Ethan Russo Trainee Prize, who will present their prize-winning research.
- Beth Wiese, PhD
“Cannabidiol treatment to prevent opioid overdose mortality” - Radka Kocvarova, PhD
“Phytocannabinoids for treating obesity-related fatty liver disease”

While there is no cost to attend, we invite you to consider supporting the future of translational cannabinoid medicine by contributing $25 (or more) to the Ethan Russo Trainee Prize Fund in lieu of a registration fee. Your donation directly supports early-career scientists conducting rigorous research with real-world medical impact—ensuring that innovative cannabinoid therapeutics continue to move from bench to bedside, potentially transforming patient care worldwide.
Together, we can celebrate scientific excellence, amplify emerging voices in the field, and invest in the research that will shape the future of cannabinoid-based medicine.
